Malopolska Agency for Energy and Environmental Management (MAES)
We are the first energy management agency in Poland, established under the EU SAVE II in 2001. Our mission is to offer support to local government and businesses for sustainable development through the implementation of modern technologies and practices, with particular emphasis on aspects of environmental improvement. We are responsible for the energy efficiency policy of the public sector in Malopolska and we are involved in cooperation with universities, local governments and SMEs.
Why we are involved in COOPENERGY
We are working on a Regional Energy Plan for the Malopolska region and we are interested in examples of energy planning and good practice in other EU regions. Because we are involved in preparation of regional operational programs we are interested in experience of other EU regions.
What we want to achieve from COOPENERGY
We are looking to offer and gain experience, support and know how in developing sustainable energy policy.
Project progress: revision of the Regional Energy Plan
As a first step towards improving how we deliver sustainable energy plans in partnership in Malopolska, we undertook a review of our current energy planning processes and the strength of our existing partnerships.
This review, undertaken with regional authorities, outlined clear recommendations for improving our existing sustainable energy action plan (REP) for the region: Regional Energy Plan for Malopolska Region. To effectively carry out the process of updating the Regional Energy Plan (REP) MAES under the authority of the Malopolska Region have invited partners to participate in the steering committee. The steering committee will meet once a year to monitor and evaluate the review process of the REP.
Our next steps in the project will focus on the development of the system of monitoring activities and investments related to renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable energy planning.
