Working with SMILEGOV

SMILEGOV logoAs with COOPENERGY, SMILEGOV looks to support authorities at national, regional and local levels (e.g. local and municipal authorities) to collaborate effectively together, in order to develop Sustainable Energy Action Plans in partnership and contribute towards the 20/20/20 EU goals.

The SMILEGOV project presents a unique opportunity to focus this support on European Islands. SMILEGOV is working to build the capacity and skills of Island communities and support them to work together across multiple levels of governance (e.g. national, regional and local) to develops SEAPS in partnership.

COOPENERGY will be working with SMILEGOV to share resources, good practices and combine our collective learning in a variety of ways:

  • Sharing good practice on collaboration: SMILEGOV will share its good practice on how regional and local authorities are already collaborating well together on sustainable energy, across European Islands, to support the resources we are developing through COOPENERGY
  • Guidance on Multi-Level Governance: Learning and knowledge acquired from SMILEGOV will also be incorporated into a Guidebook on developing Multi-Level Governance, aimed at regional and local authorities across Europe
  • Communicating in partnership: COOPENERGY will coordinate its communications with SMILEGOV and with the following IEE projects: SEAP-PLUS, ENERET, Covenant CapaCITY, 100% RES-Communities and MERSHARTILITY. This will ensure the guidance and resources developed through these projects are widely promoted to authorities across the European mainland and Island communities
